The National Mass Metering Programme is an initiative of the Federal Government (FG)/Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Electricity Distribution Companies (DISCOs) to work with local meter manufacturers to bridge the metering gap in the country by providing electricity meters (smart meters in the case of EKEDC) to all Nigerians who are currently connected to the national grid

NMMP aims to close the existing metering gaps in phases for all grid connected customers estimated at 6.5Million over the next 24-36 months. The initial phase comprises the immediate deployment of meters available in country which is estimated to be at 1 million units for both single phase and 3 phase meters.

Eko Electricity Distribution Company’s allocation for the initial Phase (Phase 0) is 79,178 smart meters, which will be deployed across its distribution franchise area.

Customers eligible for this initiative are Non-Maximum Demand Post-paid Customers without functional meters. For the Rollout plan the first set of beneficiaries will be customers within the tariff Band A-C this is to help cushion the effect of the service reflective tariff, while other Tariffs will be included as the NMMP progresses.

No upfront payment for the installation of meters will be required.

The objective of the rollout plan is to bridge the metering gap, eliminate estimated billing, create increased customers satisfaction, and reduce ATC&C losses under the service reflective tariff regime.

Upon validation of the online application (Please note your reference/Application Number) the details will be forwarded to the responsible Meter Asset Provider (MAP) who will contact the customer for installation in accordance with the rollout plan.
